I help online learning providers, schools, universities and professional bodies review, build and run their courses and platforms. From course audits to live programme support, I bring experienced direction and hands-on delivery to the work that needs to hold together.

Clear thinking.

Flexible support.

Steady partnership.

and ready for real life.

Services

Good online learning takes more than good content.

It takes a course learners can navigate, a platform that supports them, a production plan people can work with and clear ownership of what happens next.

I work across those connections, helping your team improve existing courses, prepare new ones for launch and keep delivery running once learners arrive. Launch day is a milestone. The first Monday with a live cohort tends to ask a few follow-up questions.

AUDIT:
Course and LMS reviews

Find what needs attention.

A practical review of your courses, LMS and learner journey, covering content structure, navigation, activities, assessments, usability and delivery readiness. You get clear priorities for what to keep, fix, rebuild or investigate, with enough detail to act on them.

Best for: A relaunch, a platform move or a recurring problem that deserves a better answer than another workaround.

BUILD:
Course development and production

Get courses ready for learners.

Support for new course builds and existing content that needs revising, restructuring or redeveloping. I can work directly in your LMS, coordinate subject experts and learning designers, or manage the production plan, review cycles and quality assurance around the build.

Best for: New courses, content redevelopment or several course streams working towards the same deadline.

A production tracker should tell you where the work stands, even when the answer is inconvenient.

RUN:
Programme support and learning operations

Keep the learning experience working.

Practical support for live programmes, from cohort setup and LMS administration to learner queries, tutor coordination and reporting. I help keep the course, platform and people connected, so small issues get attention before they become everyone’s afternoon.

Best for: Live programmes that need reliable operational support and someone who follows things through.

LEAD:
Delivery leadership and partnerships

Give the work a clear owner.

Experienced project, programme and account leadership on a contract or fractional basis. I connect academic, technical and operational teams, coordinate partners and suppliers, and keep priorities, decisions and risks visible.

You get someone who can see the wider picture and stay close enough to the detail to know when the plan needs to change.

Best for: Education teams that need senior delivery or account management capacity without adding a full-time role.

Partnership and account management is included in Lead, covering university partners, institutional clients and delivery suppliers. Use the four cards above rather than a separate fifth card.

How I work

Part of your team. Personally invested.

You work directly with me, on a defined project or a fractional retainer. I bring clear thinking, practical support and a willingness to ask the question everyone has been politely working around.

1. Get the full picture

We look at what is happening, what needs to happen and what stands between the two, including your courses, platform, people and deadlines.

2. Agree what needs doing

We set the scope, priorities, responsibilities and fee, so everyone knows what we are working towards.

3. Get into the work

I work alongside your team, in the platform, the production plan and the conversations that move things forward.

4. Review and adjust

We review progress, address what needs attention and adjust priorities when circumstances change. Projects finish with a clear handover; ongoing engagements keep ownership and next steps visible.

Why heysunbird?

Experience that stays close to the work.

My background spans marketing, partnerships, account management and online learning delivery. Across current and previous roles, I have worked with institutions and organisations including Cambridge Judge Business School, the London School of Economics, Oxford Saïd Business School, Valenture Institute and the Neurological Association of South Africa in collaboration with the University of Cape Town.

That experience helps me see the connections between a learning programme, its platform, its partners and the people delivering it. You work directly with me, with trusted specialists brought in where the project needs them.

About Mel & HeySunbird

Founder-led, practical and personal. You work directly with me.

Melissa 4.png
  • Hey, I'm Melissa.

My career has taken me through many roles, I have often been the person connecting the teams, spotting the gaps and turning a promising idea into something people can use.

HeySunbird brings my experience together, with a focus on online learning delivery and the work around it: reviewing courses and platforms, developing and improving course content, managing production, supporting live programmes and giving delivery a clear owner.

My strength is seeing how everything fits together. The platform affects the learner experience. The production plan affects the launch date. A delayed decision affects three people who were ready to get started. One small problem left unattended has an irritating habit of inviting its friends.

I bring structure, follow-through and a sense of humour to that work. Business is personal, and working together should feel that way.

My experience includes work with institutions such as Cambridge Judge Business School, LSE and Oxford, as well as Unitrans, Valenture Institute and the Neurological Association of South Africa in partnership with the University of Cape Town.

  • What I help with

My work often sits across the connections between a course, its platform and the people delivering it. Depending on what your team needs, that can include:

    • Course, content and LMS audits
    • Content revision and redevelopment
    • New course building and LMS setup
    • Course production planning and quality assurance
    • Programme launches and live delivery support
    • Project and programme management
    • Partnership and account management
    • Stakeholder and supplier coordination
    • Strategy and marketing support

Some projects need a focused pair of hands. Others need someone to own the plan and bring the team with them. I can support either, with a clear scope from the start.

  • Where I fit

Good ideas tend to get complicated the minute they meet real life.

Suddenly there is a production plan, a platform, several people reviewing the same course, a supplier waiting for feedback and someone asking whether the launch date is still realistic. That is usually where I come in.

I work with education teams when courses need building or improving, production has lost momentum, a platform needs attention, a live programme needs support, or important client and partner relationships need a consistent owner.

Sometimes the problem is obvious. Sometimes everyone can feel that the work is slower, messier or harder than it should be, but nobody has had the space to work out why.

I have a low tolerance for fluff, a high tolerance for complexity and a long-standing habit of calling things as I see them. I ask the awkward questions early, because they are usually cheaper to answer before launch day.

  • How I work with you

HeySunbird is founder-led, practical and personal. You work directly with me, with trusted specialists brought in when the project needs additional expertise.

I stay close to the work, from decisions and planning to the practical details that make delivery possible. When a project changes direction, I flag it early, explain what it means and help the team work out the next step.

Expect honest conversations, clear priorities and a spreadsheet formatted far better than anyone asked for.

Business is personal to me. You should trust the people you work with, enjoy having them in the room and feel a little lighter when they take something off your plate.

So, what are we sorting out?

Let’s Talk

So, what are we sorting out?

A course launch getting closer? A platform making life harder? A programme that needs more support than your team has capacity to give?

Tell me what is happening and where you need help. We’ll work out a sensible place to start.
